ok these are my thoughts on the solo thing in testify or whatever
you wanna call it. i was watching a video of rage live in mexico
city and i tried to watch carefully to see anything morello did
that was weird but the camera work didnt show him much!
   i noticed he had the lead out of his guitar and was touching the
strings with them and by the sound of it he must be using a wah wah
pedal as well. so if your lucky to have a wah pedal like i am then
put the end of your lead on the d string and push down on the wah
pedal slowly. you'll hear what i mean in the song its the "rhythm" 
of it. if you keep messing around with that then you'll get it.
    you dont need all the digitech whammys for this stuff i dont 
think so just try this out. hope i helped
